Job Purpose
The Trainee AME will be responsible for carrying out aircraft maintenance and certification according to Air India’s regulatory and company standards. This role is vital in ensuring the airworthiness of our aircraft while supporting the engineering team in day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
As a Trainee AME, your role will include:
- Aircraft Maintenance: Perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance in line with Air India’s airworthiness standards and regulatory requirements.
- Team Coordination: Use available resources efficiently to meet aircraft serviceability and operational requirements.
- Discrepancy Management: Plan and rectify discrepancies observed during maintenance checks to meet both airworthiness and company standards.
- Documentation and Certification: Ensure accurate and timely updates in the AMOS (Aircraft Maintenance and Operational System) and other related documentation.
- Manpower and Equipment Coordination: Work closely with the Station Incharge for planning manpower and equipment needs.
- Authorization Management: Ensure your respective AME authorization is always valid and up-to-date.
- Regulatory and Technical Compliance: Adhere to regulatory standards set by the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation), Air India policies, and company operating procedures.
- Shift Handover: Ensure smooth shift handovers and maintain proper communication with the incoming shift.
Team Management & Development
- Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior staff to enhance their technical and professional skills.
- Training: Support the development of the team through consistent training and knowledge sharing.
Skills and Qualities Required
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy and precision in maintenance tasks and documentation.
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of maintenance processes, aircraft systems, and regulatory requirements.
- Planning & Coordination: Strong ability to plan, organize, and coordinate tasks efficiently.
- Influencing Skills: Ability to align and influence both internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Customer Complaints: Minimization of customer complaints related to aircraft maintenance.
- Task Completion: Timely and effective completion of assigned maintenance tasks.
- Regulatory Compliance: Strict adherence to regulatory and safety procedures.
- Documentation Accuracy: Zero errors in documentation.
- Safety SOP Adherence: Consistent compliance with safety protocols.
- Maintenance Quality: Minimized maintenance errors.
Educational & Experience Requirements
Minimum Education Qualification:
- 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) or Equivalent
Professional Qualification:
- B1 Stream: All modules of the DGCA modular examination (as applicable)
- B2 Stream: All modules of the DGCA modular examination + RT license
Experience:
- Minimum: 2 years of hands-on aircraft maintenance experience in a scheduled airline.
- Desired: 3 years of experience on Narrow Body (A320 Family) and/or Wide Body (B777 & B787) aircraft.
